How to get to Amsterdam

From Schiphol Airport
You can take the train from Schiphol Airport (airport train station) to the city. The train departs every 30 minutes. We recommend all participants buy an Amsterdam Travel Pass for 1-day (€17), 2-day (€22,50) or 3-day (€28). To go to Motel One Amsterdam, you will need to depart the train at Amsterdam RAI (about 15 minutes from the airport to Motel One).

Alternatively, taxis are available in front of the airport terminal. The journey should cost around €25 and last about 20-30 minutes, depending on traffic.

From Koninklijke Schouwburg (The Hague)

To get back from Koninklijke Schouwburg (The Hague) to Motel One Amsterdam, walk to Den Haag Centraal Station (about 10-minute walk). At Den Haag Centraal Station, take the Intercity train to Amsterdam Zuid Station. At Amsterdam Zuid Station switch to the subway M50 (direction: Gein) to Amsterdam RAI Station. It is then a 5-minute walk to Motel One. It will take you about 1 hour and 10 minutes in total.

The trains back to Amsterdam run about every 15 minutes and a ticket costs €11. Tickets can be bought at Den Haag Centraal Station or you can buy tickets online. Please note, that due to construction works, some connections might be changed or replaced.

Car
There is an underground car park under the hotel (€18 for 24 hours, no reservation possible). Type in " Valkenburgerstraat 90, 1011 LZ Amsterdam" in your GPS to find the entrance to the car park.

Train
When arriving at Amsterdam Central train station, take the subway (called 'metro') 52 and exit at 'Europaplein'. From there, it is a 5-minute walk to the hotel.

Find Your Way to ITA

The main conference venue is Internationaal Theater Amsterdam (ITA) and the other venues are within walking distance. Note: To get into ITA, please take the entrance that leads past the cash register, and and not the one that leads through the cafe.

By Subway (‘Metro’) and Tram
To get from Motel One to ITA, go to the Europaplein station and take the subway line (called ‘metro’) 52 (direction: Noord). Stop at ‘Vijzelgracht’. Switch to tram 1, or walk 10 minutes to ‘Leidseplein’. ITA is the big building on this square.

It will take about 25 minutes in total. There will be a group departure from the hotel each morning. To join, please check the schedule and meet in the hotel foyer at the stated times.

To get from Schiphol Airport to ITA, go to the train station at Schipol Airport and stop at 'Lelylaan'. Switch to tram 1 and stop at 'Leidseplein'. It will take you about 30 minutes in total.

How to Buy Tickets
We recommend buying a public transport ticket for a day (€8), 2 days (€13,50) or 3 days (€19). The same ticket will allow you unlimited travel via subway, bus and tram in Amsterdam (including Schiphol airport).

Tickets can be bought at most subway stations, e.g. Europaplein, Centraal (Stationsplein) Station, Bijlmer ArenA Station, Zuid Station or Lelylaan Station. Buy tickets online here. To get information about trams, buses and subways, go to the GVB website.

By Taxi
Taxis should cost around €15 and take about 10 minutes to travel from the hotel to ITA. However, there are construction works in the city centre which might cause delays. Therefore, we recommend all conference participants to use the public transport options above.
