Project detail:

When youngsters go to the theatre it is usually to see «old» plays that do not concern them, whose subjects are far from their most urgent preoccupation. Fabulamundi Playwriting Europe has been working with European artists, professionals, and institutions along 10 years, supporting the careers of the playwrights invited to step into the network and promoting a diverse, equal, gender balanced, sustainable ecosystem for creativity.
Fabulamundi - New Voices is the new edition of a successful history of cultural promotion in the name of European values and heritage, which aims to bring contemporary playwriting closer to the younger generations. Its objectives are:

  • To approach youngsters through creative writing: a huge program of 60 laboratories will be implemented to reach more than 400 youngsters.
  • To train professional playwrights on themes especially sensitive to young generations such as gender balance, sustainability and digitisation: a training programme with several conferences and round tables with experts, plus a cycle of 30 seminars on the internationalisation of playwrights.
  • To create an international community of playwrights: a complete set of online actions, plus a system of mobilities and exchange for youngsters and professionals are set up.

'Digital and Interactive Theatre' Webinar

Tuesday 13 February 2024

10:00 - 12:00 CET

In preparation for the upcoming Fabulamundi community meeting in Paris at Théâtre Ouvert (19 to 22 February), New Voices playwrights and partners will have the opportunity to explore the field of digital and interactive theatre formats in this webinar.

This will be facilitated through an online workshop facilitated through the European Theatre Convention and guided by Jedidjah Julia Noomen.

Jedidjah Julia Noomen will provide in-depth insights into narrative design and digital storytelling, delving into interactive formats through practical exercises.  While primarily designed for the Fabulamundi community of playwrights, it offers a unique opportunity for all partners to delve into the world of digital theatre.

Jedidjah started as a writer and (assistant) director in theatre, before moving into digital interactive productions as a narrative designer on many European (VR) games. Bringing her knowledge back to the theatre realm, she also assists theatre (and film) makers in developing narrative and interactive structures for digital/hybrid productions (currently working with Theater Utrecht and ETC Member Theatre De Toneelmakerij). In addition, she is a board member at the Interactive Fiction Technology Foundation and advisor for the Flemish Gamefund and EACEA.

This webinar is only open to Fabulamundi - New Voices playwrights and partners.
