Theatre for all children
At the Slovak National Theatre we believe that every child, regardless of difference, should have the chance and opportunity to experience theatre for themselves. That is why we especially think about children who have no one to take them to the theatre, but also about families who cannot afford a visit the theatre.
SND decided to initiate a charity project "Theatre for all children" in cooperation with NGO Smile as a gift. Without theatre, children do not only miss out a wonderful artistic experience, but also a chance to learn. Theatre undoubtedly develops creativity, culture, communication, patience, morality and imagination.
"In the difficult pandemic times, we at the Slovak National Theatre are even more aware of the need to help each other. Society needs more humanity, empathy, love and good deeds, so we have decided to contribute to this as well. We believe that our spectators will join us and together we will be able to help and give joy, because that is also the role of the theatre," says Matej Drlička, General Director of the Slovak National Theatre.
In the SND box office, there is a specially marked box where every visitor can contribute any amount of money for a ticket for children from centres for children and families, foster and underprivileged families when buying their own tickets or gift vouchers.
The collection is sponsored by organisation Smile as a Gift. You can also buy tickets for children electronically via QR code, by credit card at the SND box office or click here
The Slovak National Theatre will add one extra ticket to every ticket that can be purchased with the money raised. Thanks to this collection, the children's audience already filled the auditorium of the Drama company hall at the Slovak National Theatre on Sunday 3rd April for the performance How Lomidrevo Became King.
SND and Smile as a Gift plan to develop Theatre for All Children as a long-term project.
