ETC Members Dakh Theatre - Centre of Contemporary Arts (Kyiv, Ukraine) and Theater Dortmund/Akademie for Theatre and Digitality (Dortmund, Germany) are presenting their collaboration project Lorenz.IO!
Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare is one of the most famous love stories in the world. Now also in digital format! You are invited to the online performance Lorenz.io [Romeo meetz Yulija], a simultaneous performance between Mariupol (Ukraine) and Dortmund (Germany) with the participation of 20 young actors on a virtual stage.
Teenagers play the love story between Romeo and Juliet, who come from two opposing families/countries. The virtual world meets the real thanks to the game Lorenz.io, where everyone can try on a mask of famous heroes of Verona. Is it possible to love outside the computer screen?
Theatrical part is created simultaneously by two directors: Anton Telbizov works in Mariupol with actors of the Театромания Мариуполь - Theatromania Mariupol together with students of the Mariupol City Lyceum and Rada Radojcic - in Dortmund with actors of the theatre Kulturbrigaden.
The coronavirus pandemic has changed completely the artistic and technical approach of the project. A digital bridge between the two scenes of the two cities was planned. Now it is 20 "scenes" just at everyone's home!
For most participants, the performance will be a theatrical debut.
The project is implemented thanks to the Goethe-Institut Ukraine, the NGO ГОГОЛЬFEST and the Akademie für Theater und Digitalität in Dortmund with the friendly support of the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Auswärtiges Amt).
