What Does Violence Mean?

Théâtres de la Ville de Luxembourg

Season 2019/2020

The season 19/20 at the Théâtres de la Ville is once again filled with a great variety of productions all across the art forms opera, dance and theatre.

From baroque to contemporary with Pygmalion or The Sleeping Thousand, to classics such as Macbeth by Verdi, this opera season will delight every taste. Our upcoming dance season is an eclectic international mix, covering a wide range of dance styles from classical dance to hip-hop, from contemporary to flamenco. The theatre programme includes new productions such as Martin Crimp’s Dealing with Clair, Chekhov’s Ivanov, Dea Loher’s Das letzte Feuer or in a contemporary adaptation the Brothers Grimm classic Rapunzel. Musical fans will be treated to the West End production of the great classic Cabaret.

This season, the Théâtres explore all aspects of violence with a number of dance and theatre productions and a focus on Europe with an international programme, round-table discussions and readings.

2020 will mark the fifth anniversary of the performance laboratory and TalentLAB festival, so be prepared for a very special edition! Another initiative to support artists or companies is offered by the Capucins Libre creative residency, designed to accompany young artists in the final steps of the realisation of their creation.
