12th Guillermo Heras Summer School: 'The Theatre of Tiago Rodrigues'

Teatro do Noroeste – Centro Dramático de Viana

22-27 June 2026

Teatro do Noroeste – Centro Dramático de Viana (Portugal) is now accepting applications for its renowned professional training program, the Guillermo Heras Summer School for Actors, scheduled for June 22 to 27, 2026. This 12th edition is dedicated to exploring ‘The Theatre of Tiago Rodrigues’, the acclaimed Portuguese playwright, actor, and director who has led the Festival d’Avignon since 2023.

An Immersive Residency Experience
The Summer School is structured as an artistic residency and creative laboratory, providing a unique human and creative environment for professional performers and theatre students. A distinguished feature of this program within the Portuguese artistic landscape is the provision of free accommodation for participants through the whole duration of the residency in Viana do Castelo. This format encourages deep learning and peer sharing under the guidance of artists with recognized national and international merit.

Application Details
Aspiring participants and students over the age of 18 are invited to submit their applications by the deadline of May 22, 2026. Submissions must be made through the official portal at www.tmsm.pt/programacao/eva2026/. The selection process aims to gather a dedicated group of artists to study the contemporary theatrical methods of Tiago Rodrigues, whose mandate at the Avignon Festival was recently renewed.

Launched in 2015 by the late Spanish director Guillermo Heras, the school remains a fundamental pillar of the company's strategy for the development and qualification of talent in the theatre sector.
