New Proposals for Europe Cultural Agenda and for Creative Europe Programme

The European Commission released on 22 May 2018 a new European Agenda for Culture. Moreover, the Creative Europe Programme proposal for 2021-2028 has also been released.

The European Commission released on 22 May 2018 a new European Agenda for Culture which focuses on 3 strategic objectives: 

  • to harness the power of culture and cultural diversity for social cohesion and wellbeing, by promoting cultural participation, mobility of artists and protection of heritage;
  • to support jobs and growth in the cultural and creative sectors, by promoting arts and culture in education, boosting relevant skills, and encouraging innovation in culture;
  • to strengthen international cultural relations, by making the most of the potential of culture to foster sustainable development and peace.

This week, the Creative Europe Programme proposal for 2021-2028 has also been released. The European Theatre Convention welcomes this proposal and its intention of extending the fundings to European cultural networks in the future. The programme is focusing on new opportunities for cross-border cooperation and cross-border projects, as well as on mobility and digital transformation in creative sectors.
