From 19 to 21 June, Deutsches Theater Berlin will open its doors to an international audience. On three stages as well as in eight other spaces in the theatre, productions from Eastern Europe and Russia will take place in parallel, with over 50 hours of non-stop theatre free of charge. What sounds utopian in current times is being made possible by Radar Ost Digital.
In three-dimensional, familiar and unknown areas, the audience will discover and experience digital editions of planned guest performances, premieres of transnational collaborations and livestreams of productions by renowned directors – in addition to lectures, concerts, talks and workshops. Now that many national borders have been closed, it is more important than ever to premiere contemporary drama. This summer, you, the audience will not have to go without discovering new plays, contemporary theatre and spending time together – except that the shared space will be digital and traverse national borders.
On 21 June at 12:00 CET, the live-streamed webinar "News From the East" will take place with ETC Member Theatres from Belarus, Poland, Czech Republic and Ukraine. In this workshop, the four theatres will come together and reflect on the changed circumstances and the associated consequences, to both, their theatres and their countries. It will be moderated by Heidi Wiley, ETC Executive Director.
