Modular Stage Construction
Modular scenery design uses reusable, interchangeable set pieces that can be reconfigured to create different stage environments. By reducing the need to build entirely new sets for each production, it helps theatres cut material waste, and extend the lifespan of scenic elements.
Storage and Storage Management
Effective storage and asset management help theatres keep track of scenery, costumes and props so they can be reused rather than replaced. This reduces waste, lowers purchasing costs, and extends the life of existing resources, supporting more sustainable production practices.
Costumes
Sustainable costumes can be challenging because of the high number of costume pieces used, fast design timeframes, and lack of knowledge about fabric supply chains. Join us and hear what theatres are doing to reduce the fast fashion they are buying, and explorations of eco-materials.
Sustainability Policies and Net Zero Planning
Net zero can seem a long way off. But theatres are using Theatre Green Book standards to plan methodical steps and realistic timelines to achieving it. Join this workshop to learn how sustainable policies and net zero can help your theatre reduce its environmental impact and build long-term resilience.
Working with Creative Teams
Working with creative teams (sometimes freelance) on sustainability can be challenging due to varying levels of knowledge, priorities, and time constraints across productions. However, it also creates opportunities to share expertise, encourage innovation, and embed sustainable practices across a wider network of theatre professionals.
