ETC Contributes to New Research on Digital Access in the Arts

We’re thrilled to share the publication 'Digital Access to the Performing Arts: A Comparative Study of Legal and Structural Challenges' by researcher Magda Romanska.

March 2026

How can we make digital performing arts truly accessible? Drawing on comparative research across the US, UK, EU and Australia, this groundbreaking Harvard-led study calls for global reforms to copyright and disability law—ensuring digital access becomes a cultural right, not a luxury.

This book was developed through the Digital Access Research Project at metaLAB at Harvard, to which ETC Executive Director Heidi Wiley was appointed alongside a group of leading international experts in disability law, copyright law, digital technology, and performing arts management.

Heidi Wiley will take part in the virtual book launch panel on 30 April 2026 - join us to mark this publication exploring one of the most urgent questions for our field: how to ensure meaningful access to performance in a digital age.
