EXODUS

by Oskaras Koršunovas

Thursday, 9 November
19:00  - 23:00 (two intermissions)

Main Hall

Performance in Romanian with English surtitling

'Exodus' draws from a reality that shapes contemporary society even as we write or speak of it: migration. The play tells the story of an Eastern European  - Ben  - who tries to survive by building a new destiny in a world whose coordinates he no longer understands. The story of Ben and the motley, harsh, poetic, violent, contradictory characters they encounter, projects the need for each of them to invent a new personal history, in an attempt to integrate into a society that is principally hostile to newcomers. And in this world that does not recognise or adopt them, in cataclysmic resettlement, all these people, stripped of the shadow of their own past, invisible to those around them, emerge into the light, seeking to recover their identity.

CITY VOICES – CENTRAL PARK

by Pál Frenak

Friday, 10 November
19:00 – 20:00 (no intermission)

Sala 2

'City Voices - Central Park' is a performance that has a single quality: it transforms. It transforms silence into a space of movement. It transforms the word into a space of movement. This is the point of incandescence where dance becomes the cypher that decodes languages as yet undiscovered  - sound for a hearing-impaired person and sign language for the actors.

Deaf interpreter ANGELA MATE
Cast Flavia Giurgiu, Alina Ilea, Daniela Bostan, Laura Avarvari, Marin Lupanciuc, Raul Lăzărescu, Cătălin Ursu, Alexandru Negrea. With Mario Grizea

THE STORY OF THOSE PEOPLE WHO ONE EVENING GATHERED AROUND A TABLE

by Radu Iacoban

Saturday, 11 November
19:00  - 21:00 (no intermission)

Main Hall

Performance in Romanian with English surtitling

A festive dinner turns into the perfect setting for confessions, and unmaskings with an air of déjà-vu, but this dinner has the value of showing us an extremely honest image of certain sensitive and familiar inter-human mechanisms, recognisable in the micro-cosmos of the family, but also in the inevitable social organism to which – as Aristotle claims – we belong to, as zoon politikon.

Directed by RADU IACOBAN
Set & Costumes TUDOR PRODAN
Sound design SEBASTIAN HAMBURGER
Cast Claudia Ieremia, Romeo Ioan, Ion Rizea, Andrei Chifu, Flavia Giurgiu, Alina Ilea, Matei Chioariu
