We’re delighted to announce that the next ETC International Theatre Conference will take place in partnership with Romanian National Theatre Timisoara/Romania from 09 – 12 November 2023.
Called ‘SHARE’, the conference will stress the importance of collaboration and peer-to-peer learning as we elaborate on ETC’s future work and priorities.
It will also build on the themes of disinformation and theatre as an open, democratic space, which were discussed during the European Theatre Forum 2023. Timisoara was at the centre of the Romanian revolution in 1989, and the ensuing ‘mass graves affair’ of media disinformation offers a vital warning about rushing to the truth – and, in contrast, the benefits of slow and critical reflection that theatre can offer audiences.
We’re excited to bring the ETC network to Timisoara during its year as one of the European Capitals of Culture for 2023. We’re also looking forward to discovering the programme of performances and activities by National Theatre Timisoara, under the renowned direction of Ada Hausvater.
