Care Panel Discussion at ETC International Theatre Conference, Lisbon 2022

Watch a replay of the first part of the CARE - an exploration conference, a major highlight of the ETC International Theatre Conference at Teatro Nacional Dona Maria II, Lisbon.

In this deep dive panel discussion, attendees were invited to consider...what does it mean for theatre to care for people living through war in Ukraine? To care for artists’ healthcare and wellbeing as they become parents or lose their jobs? For the environment? What does the way we choose to respond to social challenges say about us, as individuals, and the places we work?

The first findings of the project were discussed during the hybrid panel discussion between Lisbon and Gent.

ACuTE: Culture Testbeds for Performing Arts and New Technology
A Transdisciplinary Digital Theatre Project co-funded by the European Union

Presentation & Focus Group Session with ETC Member Theatres

ACuTe is a new EU-funded project with 14 organisations (including ETC & 8 ETC Member Theatres) that aims to innovate and manifest production processes in the field of digital theater based on experiences from other sectors in a transdisciplinary way and with the help of design thinking and co-creation. It will lead to the testing and prototyping of new technologies under the three key project themes: new dramaturgies, stage design and audience engagement. This November, ACuTe starts with the first design thinking research phase (Emphasize, Define, Ideate...) that, over the course of the next 3 seasons, will lead to prototyping and testing experimental productions in 9 theaters and performing arts organisations across Europe, collaborating with universities, media artists and technology experts.

With this ETC conference session, ACuTe was presented to the ETC Members and the on-site involved partners.
Following the presentation, a first focus group session kicked off the transdisciplinary Empathy phase.

Meet the speakers:

Impulse by Kay Voges (Volkstheater Vienna/Austria)
ACuTe Project Introduction by Blair Stevenson (Oulu University of Applied Sciences, Finland)
