We strongly recommend securing your accommodation in Athens as soon as possible, as hotel availability across the city is expected to fill up quickly due to high tourist activity.

Travel and Public Transport
- From Athens International Airport "Eleftherios Venizelos" to National Theatre Greece
Metro Line M3, Dimotiko Theatro - Airport (blue line, direction Dimotiko Theatro) connects the airport to the city centre (Syntagma Square) and vice versa.
The journey time is approximately 40 minutes. Trains run every 36 minutes, 7 days a week from 6:00 am to 11:30 pm. One-way tickets cost €9, and return tickets cost €16.
From Syntagma Square you need to change to line M2 (red line, direction Anthoupoli) for two stations to arrive at Omonia Square where in approximately 5-minute walking distance you will arrive at the National Theatre Greece.

24-hour express bus X95: Airport - Syntagma Square (Estimated journey time: 60 minutes) connects Athens International Airport with the city centre (Syntagma Square).
This non-stop service operates daily, including public holidays. Express bus X95 drop off passengers at the Departures Level and departs from the Arrivals Level.
Bus tickets are sold at the ticket booth outside the Arrivals hall (between Exits 4 and 5.) One-way tickets cost €5.50. From Syntagma Square you need to change again to line M2, Anthoupoli-Elleniko (red line, direction Anthoupoli) for two stations to arrive at Omonia Square where in approximately 5-minute walking distance you will arrive at the National Theatre Greece.

From Larissa station, you need to take metro line M2 (red line, direction Elleniko) for two stations to arrive at Omonia Square where in approximately 5-minute walking distance you will arrive at the National Theatre Greece.
From NTG, Ziller Building you need to take the metro from Omonia Square line M2 (red line, direction Elleniko) for three stations to arrive at Acropolis metro station and in about 10 minutes walking distance you will be at the archaeological site of Acropolis.

- Ticket prices
Athens Metro Airport Tickets cost €9 and are valid for all Athens Urban Transport Organization (OASA) means for 90 minutes from their first validation at any blue ticket reader on the metro station gate, bus, trolleybus or tramway. Please note: you can only recharge your airport ticket with trips to and from the airport. After arriving in the city centre you will need to buy a new one and recharge it accordingly.

This ticket type is invalid for Airport EXPRESS bus lines and metro line 3 for the route part Koropi – Airport. The single ticket’s validity term is 90 minutes after its first validation. Public transport tickets are only sold at ticket offices and ticket machines at each metro station and airport. It is important to validate your ticket by holding your ticket on the reader upon your entrance (and your exit when you transport by metro) in the public transport.
- Taxi
The yellow Athenian Taxis are available outside Exit 3 of Arrivals Level. A taxi from the airport to the city centre costs a flat rate of €40 from 5 am to midnight, and €55 from midnight to 5 am. The rate is determined by the time of arrival at the destination and includes all applicable surcharges.

Here you can find National Theatre of Greece's suggestions to enjoy a coffee, a delicious snack or a drink near the theatre or within an approx. 15 minutes walking distance. Keep in mind that Greece is famous for its “kafeneia”, which are places where you can enjoy both a coffee and a snack early in the morning but also delicious traditional appetizers and a drink later in the afternoon.

Museums, galleries and sightseeing
- National Archaeological Museum - One of the most significant museums in the world with the richest collection of Greek artefacts dating from prehistory to late antiquity
- Acropolis Museum - A vibrant curation of impressive sculptures, ceramics and other treasures from the Acropolis.Today, the building accommodates the department of the Athens Ephorate of Antiquities.
- Museum of Cycladic Art - It was founded in 1986 to house the private collection of the shipowning family Goulandris and focuses on the ancient civilizations of the Aegean, especially the Cyclades during the 3rd millennium BC. The most valuable exhibits are the Cycladic figurines.
- Stoa of Attalos - Museum of the Ancient Agora - The Museum of the Ancient Agora is housed in the Stoa of Attalos and hosts all the discoveries from the excavations carried out by the American School of Classical Studies in the area.
- National Gallery - After extensive renovation, the country's most important gallery welcomed the public again in June 2021 with the largest single collection of contemporary Greek art and sculpture, dating from the post-Byzantine era to the present day.
- National Museum of Contemporary Art Αthens - The National Contemporary Museum of Athens has a permanent space of great architectural-Takis Zenetos’ groundbreaking post-war industrial building- and sociological importance to call home. The museum's permanent exhibition is a remarkable showcase of contemporary Greek conceptual - and especially political - art.
- Benaki Museum- The Benaki Museum offers a panorama of Greek history and culture from the prehistoric era to the 20th century for the visitor to Athens in just a few hours.
- Athens National Garden - Just a few meters from the Syntagma metro station and right next to the Greek Parliament is the National Garden, which, together with the garden of the Zappeion Palace, covers 284 squares full of greenery, rare species of plants, trees and birds.
Shops and Flea Markets
- Ermou Street Central Shopping Market is very vibrant at all times with plenty of shops along the street.
Open Monday to Friday from 9 am to 9 pm and Saturdays from 10 am to 6 pm - Monastiraki Flea Market is a jumble of shops selling artisanal soaps, handmade sandals and souvenir T-shirts. The surrounding streets are crammed with traditional tavernas and restaurants, many with Acropolis views.
Open: Daily from 8 am to 8 pm - Thissio Flea Market At the Thissio Outdoor Market in Athens, you can browse artisan goods such as paintings and handmade jewelry. You’ll also find products ranging from second-hand cameras to clothes and homeware here. The shops and stalls are positioned on pedestrianized streets in one of the most historic districts of Athens.
