Special guest performance of Snow Negatives at the Slovak National Drama Theatre
Snow Negatives will be presented in a unique live version with artists from all three participating countries — performed exceptionally and only once in Slovakia. In this special format, you will see actors from both theatres side by side, alongside a film created specifically for this production.
The Ján Palárik Theatre in Trnava (Slovakia), the Jan Kochanowski Theatre in Opole (Poland), and the Academy for Theatre and Digitality in Dortmund (Germany) come together to offer a powerful new perspective on the horrors of World War II, marking the 80th anniversary of its end.
The production brings to life the true stories of Stefan Lux, a Jewish actor from the Deutsches Theater; Faye Schulman, a partisan photographer from Poland; and Slovak resistance fighters Alfred Wetzler and Rudolf Vrba, who escaped from a concentration camp to share testimony that shook the world. The play raises critical questions: How do artists fight fascism? Can shocking truths be trusted? And isn’t indifference our greatest enemy?
The performance is created by young artists under the direction of Dávid Paška, a recent graduate of the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna.
The production was nominated for the Dosky Award (the most prestigious theatre Slovak award) in the main category (Best Production), and its author and director Dávid Paška is the recipient of the Tatra Banka Award for Art 2025.
