Age of rage is about the desperation of a girl who tries to move forward with all her might but is pulled down again and again. About seizing opportunities and letting them slip away again. About a girl who wants to be heard, but who nobody listens to. Because girls aren't supposed to be angry.
This research-based play resulted of many discussions with scientists, politicians and classes of youngsters. Here a few words written by them about how they handle their rage:
I
Am Isa
A big sister and baby sister
From Groningen and volleyball, singing and learning foreign languages
Furious because of terrorism and ignorant people
I
slam doors
feel guilty and apologise
I
Am a sister, daughter and in love
I
am partying, enjoying and traveling
angry, mad and aggressive about lying and selfish people
I
detest wars and global heating
I
swear, cry and still feel madness, annoyance and incomprehension
I
have ADD
am a singer and creative
am from campsite Westerheert, Groningen
part of me is French which makes me socially advanced
I
love singing, family and summer breaks in France
am frustrated
when my stress levels are high
I
try to talk and sing.
The performance Age of Rage is part of Young Europe III - ETC’s artistic collaboration project which focuses on theatre as a place of identification for young people in Europe.
