Schauspielhaus Graz

Austria / Graz

Schauspielhaus Graz is the biggest theatre in Styria (Austria) and consists of three different stages: SCHAUSPIELHAUS, SCHAURAUM and KONSOLE. The main stage is a traditional stage with a capacity of 550 seats, whereas SCHAURAUM and KONSOLE are smaller studio stages with capacities of 100 and 50-60 seats.

When Andrea Vilter became the Artistic Director in 2023/2024, she put the focus on modern interpretations of classical drama, the expansion of the traditional theatre canon and Austrian playwrights. Under the leadership of the previous Artistic Director Iris Laufenberg, the theatre received four nominations for the Austrian Nestroy-Theaterpreis (of which it won two) and became a member of the European Theatre Convention (ETC).
