The Schauspielhaus Zürich, Switzerland's largest spoken-word theatre, offers a diverse and exciting program in the heart of Zurich. The repertoire includes classics as well as world premieres and new plays with political and contemporary relevance.
Since the 2025/26 season, Pınar Karabulut and Rafael Sanchez have been at the helm of the Schauspielhaus Zürich, bringing a breath of fresh air to one of the most important theaters in the German-speaking world. With a large ensemble, diverse premieres, and the most current voices from theater, art, and society, the Schauspielhaus Zürich presents itself as a stage in transition – right in the heart of the city, close to the people.
The two venues, Pfauen and Schiffbau, along with the Halle, Box, and Matchbox, present around 20 new productions each year. Selected performances are also accessible to English-speaking audiences thanks to surtitles.
