Founded in Teatr Nowy in Poznań is a robust insitution housed in a historic Art Nouveau building known as the "House under the Dancing Rooster." It employs 109 permanent staff, including a 48-member artistic ensemble (actors, stage managers, a resident dramaturge, and a music director), supported by in-house craft workshops.
The theatre operates three stages, which are visited by over 57,000 spectators annually. It maintains a repertoire of approximately 24 titles, with a minimum of four premieres per season. Its artistic programme, which combines classical and contemporary works, serves as a laboratory for ideas, juxtaposing diverse worldviews.
Teatr Nowy runs the Young Theatre Week programme, which serves as a testing platform and debut stage for young directors, choreographers, and dramaturges. This initiative functions as a structured recruitment mechanism and a way to introduce new artistic perspectives into the professional theatre environment.
