Prešeren Theatre Kranj stages thematically provocative, socially engaged and aesthetically exquisite productions.
We are bound to these ambitions, by the mere fact that we are named after the greatest Slovenian poet – France Prešeren (1800 - 1849).
We are a repertory theatre, unafraid of bold moves and innovation. Our repertoire focuses on socially and politically committed works by contemporary playwrights from Slovenia and abroad, fresh interpretations of classics, the staging of innovative dramatic forms and the selection of the most visible theatre directors and creators.
We are also the organisers of the Week of Slovenian Drama festival, in which the best stagings of Slovene drama from home and abroad are presented each year in March.
