Omonia — a fiction

Original concept & direction:  Anestis Azas, Prodromos Tsinikoris
From 22.10.2026, Dipylon Theater

One evening, a young man discovers an unidentified body near Omonia Square. The next morning, finding no mention of the incident on social media or in the press, he decides to embark on a personal crusade to uncover the truth — with unexpected consequences.

The familiar square, with its hustling and bustling hive of passers-by, working people, indefatigable tourists, and aspiring influencers, turns into a crime scene — and an allegory for the city and country as a whole. Conspiracy theories and fake news are spread through underground passages, TV studios and live streams, twisting the facts and illuminating different facets of reality.

Omonia — a fiction is an atmospheric urban thriller that balances black comedy, political satire, and documentary. Drawing on real events and interviews, it constructs an imagined — but at the same time wholly recognisable — image of Athens’ most iconic square.
