Det Norske Teatret invites international theatre colleagues to the International Fosse Festival in Oslo in September.
From 6 to 15 September 2019, the words of Jon Fosse will permeate all corners of the Norwegian Theatre. During the International Fosse Festival, performances will take place on all stages, with guest performances from Japan, Russia, France and Sweden, plus an extensive programme of seminars.
With more than 600 productions all over the world, Jon Fosse is the greatest Norwegian dramatist to have emerged since the days of Henrik Ibsen. His texts have a distinctive lyrical rhythm and tackle subjects associated with the fundamental aspects of life. About fjords, death and love. Two together in solitude. An X-ray of daily life and how people live together. The International Fosse Festival in 2019 celebrates the 25th anniversary of Jon Fosse’s debut as a dramatist, and it will be his 60th birthday in September.
One of the festival highlights will be the stage premiere of Fosse’s Trilogy, for which Fosse was awarded the 2015 Nordic Prize for Literature. Trilogy will be directed by Luc Perceval, who staged – according to Fosse himself – one of the best productions of his works, Dream of Autumn in Munich (2002).
The Festival is a collaborative venture with Det Norske Samlaget (a Norwegian publishing house) and Colombine Teaterförlag.
